I was meaning to draft a more thorough introduction to the LA Technology Initiative for BRLUG, but since I just received the following, I thought that moving quickly was essential. The bill basically provides for the creation of a single office for IT for the state government. Currently, every department in the LA state government has its own IT department, which leads to a lot of wasted tax dollars in duplicated effort and incompatible standards. I encourage everyone in BRLUG to e-mail the legislators below and voice your support of SB-455.
