Howdy, We never really decided what topic will we have at the next BRLUG meeting. Since we don't have a knowledgeble speaker to talk about the SSSCA for the next meeting, why don't we postpone that? Instead, how about we cover the various issues involved in setting up a home network?
I can cover making patch cables, adding network cards and using network hubs. I can also talk about what an Internet gateway and firewall is from a conceptual standpoint, but can't give specifics on doing it via Linux (as I did this with OpenBSD which was easier at the time). I need some other volunteers to help out with setting up a firewall and Network Address Translation box in Linux, what Samba is and a minimal configuration, and any other home networking subjects that we've discussed or that you think would be cool.
