Thanks a lot for the info. I had assumed that
searching on google.com would search
groups.google.com, so I'm glad to know better now.

Concerning electrical safety, you are correct to
advise that it is dangerous to open a monitor due to
~25KV that could still be in the capacitors. I was
aware of this already and was very cautious. I didn't
see anything that could help me when I opened it up.

For anyone else considering opening up a monitor,
please be aware that you could hurt or kill yourself
doing so.
