Well, I finally motivated myself to make a full-blown upgrade from Mandrake 6.1 (or was it 6.2?) to Mandrake 8.0. The actual installation went without a hitch and I was finished in less than 1/2 hour. With every silver lining there is a cloud. It seems that I am being plagued by some advanced power management service. Specifically, I have "kapm-idled" sucking up about 80% of my cpu. I am not certain where I might go, or what I may do, to rectify this situation. If anyone has a suggestion as to what might be done in this situation, I would be greatly appreciative.
