In RedHat power management features are enabled in the kernel. Try compiling
a new kernel without that feature.
Alternatively, you might pass the "apm=off" parameter to the kernel at boot
using lilo.
Of course this is idle specualtion on my part as I am a RedHat user and
don't use apm at all and I don't use a stock kernel. No warranty is implied,
required or otherwise desired in this information which may or may not be
actually useful, concerning events that are real or ficticious and people
that may have not even been here in the first place.
