You might need to upgrade your rpm to ver 4.x. Along the way you will need to upgrade the popt, db3, and tcl rpms to make the rpm upgrade work. I've found that donwloading the entire contents of the 6.2 upgrade library to your hard drive, the running rpm -uvh * works pretty well. It reads the packages on your system and upgrades them with the new files.
