>From my experience of teaching seniors "computing" for the past 9 years,
they don't think a thing about security. If the vendor (any) of any
operating system doesn't make basic security a part of the system, then they
are going to loose users. If a newbe gets a system and after only a little
while the system is compromised because of poor security the vendor didn't
warn about, that vendor will loose a customer.
It may be hard for some of the "tech-heads" (not a derogatory term) to
understand the senior home user. They have been sold this computer by M$
vendors to keep in touch with their family, etc. and cannot envision anyone
trying to do harm to their computer. Until M$ and other OS vendors start
thinking about these little people, they are going to loose many customers.
Most of these users would love to have an OS that is easy to use and does
not have them out in the cold because of security. I know of many that have
purchased a system and when it would not work "EASILY" out of the box, they
returned the system and will not purchase another.

Question: Could Linux be programmed to have all the features these people
want with none of the problems. $$$$ to the company that can put together a
complete system targeted to these people.
Anyone interested?
