I am aware that Exchange has all sorts of connectors; but, I was not aware that it had an IMAP connector.
Remembering your main goal is to convert over as much of the pertinant folder structure and messages as possible despite differences how a folder is used, you would want to get at the folder data by the most flexible means possible. Heck, if your userbase was remotely technical (which they are), I'd : 1. Configure the base mailboxes on the unix server (dump userlist and script it in) 2. Connect their MailClients to it (I assume you're dealing with outlook) 3. Provide them with a utility that export their data and folder structure into a the mailboxes. (Yeah, VB or VBA on the client side using cdo or mapi- probably not opensource, but it's one-time and we want results and we're dealing with closed source anyway). Give them the choice, it also forces them to be aware. 4. Give them a 'Firm' date. (which usually consists of a cutoff day, followed by 2 days of inconnectivity on exchange, and a week of 2nd chances) Remember that IMAP will probably not cover calendar, journal, or other non message email objects too well. You'd be also giving up any server side virus/worm protection (unless there are O.S. tools to do this out there that I'm not aware of- ***SCREAM AT ME PEOPLE IF YOU KNOW OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS***) You're also giving up..
