Well, I've become disenchanted with Ximian desktop and am returning to
KDE. Ximian desktop is pretty, I can say that much. But red-carpet
falls short and ends up being simply a novel idea in my book. It
doesn't pay attention to dependencies for anything I didn't install via
red-carpet, and several times I've had problems because of red-carpet.

After installing a suggested update to my control panel, my sound was
FUBAR. Installing an update of PAN via red-carpet didn't yield
desirable results either. It instead replaced pan with P.ost A. N.ote.
I've had other problems also, most because of red-carpet. It also
refuses to see some libraries (installed by it's very own installer)
that's in my path. The funny thing is, that it recognizes other
libraries that are in the exact same directory.

And last but not least, I don't "feel" like I'm in control. I'm a
hopeless KDE fanboy I guess. I will say this however, Evolution is a
beautiful e-mail client. I easily prefer it over everything else I've
tried, and it's the one thing I'll continue to use from the folks at
Ximian, because it works perfectly fine in KDE. :-) I'm a window
manager slut of course, and I'll probably try something else out sooner
or later. Just as long as KDE doesn't know I dream about Enlightenment
at night, we can maintain a working relationship. :-)
