Cap'n Buck- It sounds like your modem timeout needs to be increased. Try starting KPPP, clicking on the "Setup" button, and selecting the "Device" tab. You can then change the value (in seconds) in the "Modem Tomeout" box. When I had this problem in the past, I found that setting the timeout to 90 seconds fixed things up nicely.
