Find an in-range buddy and do a little directional 802.11b/a

A friend of mine was in teh same predicament...cox wasn't out
there...Bellsouth said they couldn't... He got dsl from Direct TV (over
Bellsouth's lines no doubt-C/LECs can actually work).  He's paying a little
more than with cox but he has it... you might want to check it out...
