I tend to agree that the subject is geeky enough that it's okay. Only if something is wildly off-topic (ie., a posting that is political in nature and has nothing to do with Linux or open source) will I send a note. However, what I don't like to see, and I've seen it a few times here, is a posting of a link with nothing but a "Read this.." attached. If you are going to post a link then at least summarize what the link points to. Say, two or three sentences, including why you think it's worthwhile for someone to read. I for one rarely if ever follow a link that is posted with no explanation because I just don't have the time. However, if I see a summary that piques my interest then I'm game. Just a thought.
