Have since downloaded version 1.2.1 of GNUPG.  Unzipped and copied 
appropriate files to the WinPT subdirectory.  Worked like a charm.  Have 
the latest encryption engine, Eudora plugin and Windows front end.

Question:
The WinPT gives several choices of key generation:
DSA and ELG (default)
DSA and RSA
DSA sign only
RSA sign only
RSA sign and encrypt.

for the test key I just accepted the default.  Which would be the 
appropriate one to use, though.  I ask this because the WinPT program was 
not written in USA, and perhaps has a European default?
