My daughter had to build volcano, so only got to try one distribution. I tried Libranet, of course. The Laptop could boot from CD, I was surprised, but pleased. It booted, started the install, let me select the keyboard, etc, and started the basic install. It put up the screen about this will take a while and hummed and whirred for about five minutes, then just stopped. As I was working on Mount Etna, I wasn't paying perfect attention, so I figured it went to standby. I started over and babysat it for a while. I noticed that shortly before it hung, it slowed down, taking longer to access the CD, then longer to access the HDD. Finally it just ground to a halt. I retried it two more times, same result. Weird. I'll take a look at it with tomrtbt tonight and see if anything actually got installed. I am curious to see if it did the base install and just couldn't kick-off the rest of the script. More updates tomorrow.
