Sounds like you need to optimize hd access with hdparm. Do "man hdparm" 
on a working box and if it is available from a shell prompt in the 
Libranet install, try it.

Also, look at your logs. The installs I've played with keep a running 
log of what is happening behind the scenes during an install.
