Perhaps by "complex business applications" he meant core applications for airlines, insurance companies, banks, hospitals, etc... so i don't think it's a Linux vs. Windows thing. These apps run on huge ass mainframes and unix boxes, stuff you can't do with Intel hardware. Since linux already runs on the big hardware, and windows never will, linux is being adopted by the software vendors more and more, which is cool. But i think the software will stay commercial... i doubt we'll ever see hospitals moving to OpenER software that they downloaded from sourceforge. :) > "SCO Group, holder of the original patents for Unix software upon which > Linux is based, has announced plans to form a licensing division and > hire superlawyer David Boies to press its claims against sellers of > Linux." > > Again, more mis-information. Total mis-information. Parts of the linux kernel was originally based on minix, but i doubt you would still find any minix code in there. The rest of linux is based on GPL, and, more important to SCO, BSD code. But SCO has never said it would "press claims against Linux". They are merely investigating any intellectual property rights that they might still own in BSD code. So it doesn't only affect linux...it affects all BSD's, Windows, Solaris, AIX, HPUX, MacOS, and pretty much anything that can talk TCP/IP. Why limit yourself to poor linux vendors who don't have any money anyway? Let's just sue everybody, Haha... I think it was mostly a publicity stunt put on my SCO in hopes of scamming a few bucks from quick settlements with companies that do have money....pretty sad. -ray -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ray DeJean http://www.r-a-y.org Systems Engineer Southeastern Louisiana University IBM Certified Specialist AIX Administration, AIX Support =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
