There is a new kid on the block of small Linux distros. Quoting from the Web site and from a Fido Linux post:
What is Damn Small Linux? Damn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) Linux distribution. Despite it's miniscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop. Why? Because having a working Linux desktop on a 50 mb business card CD is just too cool not to do. The latest version is damnsmalllinux-0.3.1 Damnsmall primary goal is to be able to get in and fix a system, my goal in creating Damn Small Linux is to have enough tools and toys on a business card sized CD to get work done *and* have some fun. The apps I am using are the best compromises I could find between function and size. X? It is a combo of Debian packages and the Kdrive Xvesa. It works beautifully on most computers but it runs slower than what most Linux users are use to. That's the cost of keeping it all small and lite. Where to Download ?? You can d/l the iso from ibiblio.org FTP server here ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/damnsmall BUT PLEASE TAKE NOTE Ibiblio.org has been a little slow to update this week, so the latest ISO (0.3.1) isn't in the Damn Small section of the FTP server. You can find it at the Incoming section while we wait! ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/Incoming/ ----------- end Quotes ------------- Not quite small enough for a dial-up download, but.... Have a few mini CD-RW blanks. Choppy
