I hate to be technical, but you are thinking of Hentai (Japanese for pervert). And I guess it's not technically japanese either, as I believe someone referred to the classic "Heavy Metal" as anime. But it is for the most part done by the Japanese. I like anime. The story lines are usually rich and the animation vivid, where as traditional American animation (cartoons) are just for laughs and whatnot.
