Ok, here's the deal. I have a linux router with linksys wmp11 pci card, that connects to my neighbor's linksys 4-pt wap router two doors down. the wap is in infrastructure mode, as he has other 802.11b clients. the linux box just routes between our networks (couldn't get the bridging working).
Now, i just got a new laptop at work with integrated 802.11b. i want the linux box to be an AP for the laptop, but also still connect to the neighbor as a client. Is this doable? Or is it not possible to be a client once the wmp11 firmware is in AP mode? I've heard of software that does this to create wireless mesh networks... anything like this for linux or bsd? 2nd idea. I could put a second wmp11 in the linux box, set them on non-overlapping channels. Leave one how it is, use the 2nd in AP mode, and let linux route between them. thoughts? i could just buy a linksys wap11 or even a wet11 bridge, but i want to do this as cheaply as possible... -ray -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ray DeJean http://www.r-a-y.org Systems Engineer Southeastern Louisiana University IBM Certified Specialist AIX Administration, AIX Support =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
