I agree and affer a caveat, or two.

I think that the killer app comes out of the blue. 
Open Source, or not, the author gets the kudos.  The
apps I wrote I was contracted to write.  I was paid
what I asked.

My Grandaddy (born 1889) had one piece of advice that
really mattered.  Find something you love to do, and
find a way to make money doing it.  I like computers
and I like to invent, I finally landed that job, it
only took twenty years, but I was distracted as a
young soldier because combat was a helluva buzz.

If you like what you do, and it pays the bills, you
win.  If you hate what you do, but it pays well, you
lose.

Life is too short to waste time.  I would invent and
do the rest of my jobs for nothing.  Getting paid for
it is GREAT!

Make your choices. Live with them.  Always pay for a
lawyer to read the fine print!  Never say I love you
unless it it worth a house baby.
