Well my reason for getting into free software isn't near
as philisophical as Will's reason, but here goes...

Basically, it was something different, and hopefully, something
better. Still Windows has great advantage in some areas. Really
it's probably not Windows itself, but perhaps the software
I use that only runs on Windows and it runs really really well
in the Windows environment.

I like using Linux because I can see more of what goes on
behind the scenes in my OS. I can try to fix the nitty gritty 
things if I want to. I don't HAVE to, but I can if I want.

I'm just that kind of person. I like taking things apart.
When I was young I took apart every piece of electronic 
equipment I had in my room. I am just interested in the 
nuts and bolts of things. 

That's all.

So far I consistenly get better uptime with my Linux 
machines. I like that too.
