I tried using VB scripting, but the original databases had so many type mismatches that it just wasn't worth it in the end. I just cannot believe there isn't an Add this value to that field widget built in. Come to think of it, the updates are clunky as all get out too. There is a pretty straight-forward calculate and update module in the O'Reily Cookbook. It is used to select a type of product and increment the price by some given percentage. It pulles the field value, multiplies it by 1 plus the percentage and replaces the the old value with the new one. It was well over a hundred lines long, and used SQL and VB to accomplish this bit of maintenance! One might think this situation comes up every so often...
