When you say he cannot connect via DSL, is he behind a router of some kind?
What kind of DSL modem does he have? Are some ports being blocked going back
from the server to the client?

But he can connect vial dial-up. I don't block anything related to ftp
via 
tcp_wrappers. It's going to be something either very interesting or very

silly. It always is.
