2.4.22 - gentoo optimized  (i.e. NOT the vanilla)

I think Eric Ortego is correct.  I did the procedure judiciously twice 
;  I suspect the precomiple has some problems .  No bother, I'll do a 
stage 1.
Despite the time it took for Stage 3, I enjoyed the process as I am 
aware of parts of the os (and process) in a different light.   It was 
very enjoyable (Yeah, I know I said it already)

Take care and I'll let you all know how it turns out........ now on to 
compile a compiler twice.....
