Let me know if you get Feather Linux booting off that pen drive.
After doing some Googling, the problem seems to be finding mobo's with
a BIOS that allows booting from a USB device. I have the pen drive set up (I
think) to boot but don't have access to a machine that I can try it on, even
though the mobo in my main box is only about 2 months old. I will investigate a
BIOS update for it.
I'd rather use a business card CD for boot and the pen drive as a home
directory or
other storage.
I like that idea too. Its disadvantage is that I don't think the
business card CD's will fare all that well in ones wallet but a (or several,
one for root and one for home) pen drive holds up well on a lanyard.
Feather Linux is very attractive because I imagine it takes fewer resources to
build than Knoppix. A 650MB CD Knoppix takes 1G of ram, I'll bet that I can
get away with half that to make a 60 MB Feather Linux CD. I'll put it into
the dream bin.
I don't know what a minimum system would be to run FeatherLinux but I
seem to remember reading something in the forums about someone running it on a
486 machine. If you are interested in packaging a custom version of
FeatherLinux, look at this link:

Oh, and keep the drama coming.......:)
