It appears that this legislation would allow us to void out any contract
clauses that come under the control of the UCITA. Good or bad?

Subject: URGENT INFO for LA Technology Companies

I have just been alerted to some important legislation that I think
Louisiana technology companies need to know about. It's been flying below
radar so far -- there has been little (if any) monitoring on this
legislation although the long term impact to Louisiana technology companies
may be huge. Many thanks to Drew Patty, a BRTC member and attorney who
specializes in intellectual property issues, for letting us know about it.

This bill impacts negotiated contract provisions dealing with choice of law
and choice of forum in any contract related to computer information,
software licensing, software development, database design, website design,
ecommerce, and possibly even IT consulting.

HB 1283 passed the House unanimously, passed Senate Judiciary A with
amendments, and is set to go to the Senate for a vote soon. Here's the link
to the bill:

Just thought you'd want to know about this...
