Yeah, it's the right chipset and the driver is GPL.  Their documentation, 
however, is mostly for Red Hat and is very Microsofty.  They packaged their 
manuals as DOC!  Oh well, I can't fault them for my inability to roll their 
source into a kernel.

seems to have what I was looking for.  I had only modified my Makefile.  The 
above author says I also need to modify something called Config.in  I'm going 
to try it  today and let you know how it comes out.  

Because ITE released this GPL, I imagine it will get rolled into stock 
kernels.  If it were not for that, the $40 card would have been back at the 
CompUSA by now.
