Yeah, it's the right chipset and the driver is GPL. Their documentation, however, is mostly for Red Hat and is very Microsofty. They packaged their manuals as DOC! Oh well, I can't fault them for my inability to roll their source into a kernel.
http://www.ite.com.tw/software_download/software_download2.asp This: http://www.passys.nl/tips/ite_kernel_image_compile.txt seems to have what I was looking for. I had only modified my Makefile. The above author says I also need to modify something called Config.in I'm going to try it today and let you know how it comes out. Because ITE released this GPL, I imagine it will get rolled into stock kernels. If it were not for that, the $40 card would have been back at the CompUSA by now. /* * linux/drivers/scsi/iteraid.c * * (C) Copyright 2002-2004 ITE Tech, inc. * * Nov 11, 2002 Mark Lu file created. * * ITE IT8212 RAID controller device driver for Linux. * * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it * under the terms of the GNU General Public License
