Hey guys. My Cirrus Logic sound card doesn't have a windows driver that
allows it play stuff from the microphone directly to the speakers. I
used to think it was because of the actual hardware, but while trying
out Slax (formerly Slackware-Live), I noticed a little feedback in the
sound and started turning down the line-in and mic volume. The feedback
went away. Well, I play bass guitar and I started thinking. I have a
decent set of Altec Lansing speakers with a sub-woofer. I found a 1/4"
phono to 1/8" phono adapter and plugged my bass into the mic port,
rebooted with Slax in the drive, turned up the mic volume and kaboom, I
turned my computer into a bass guitar amplifier. God I love Linux.
