There is a though: Tips are normally handed by kind people with good intentions. So many times I feel I could help others yet I do not even bother because I know that a few people out there will try to insult me with the sole purpose to make their limited knowledge greater than its potential. I can dig that.
If a Tip works, thank the person who gave it to you, maybe even help someone else. If it does not, maybe you should be the good guy and help that person to become better really trying to help someone rather than to make your self look superior or make someone look bad. I think that professionals in the world of computers have much to learn in this regard. Probably because it is a very young field with many intelligent professionals with very few that have grown old enough to be wise and pass this knowledge to their apprentices for the better.
