Fellow FOSS users,

I was looking around on FSF.org and found a link to Software Freedom Day
<http://softwarefreedomday.org> on Sept. 10. I didn't see a Louisiana
team organized and was wondering if anyone would be interested in
helping get one started.

We could get supplies (The OpenCD and 100 Ubuntu Live CDs) to hand out
if we meet some criteria. I'm trying to get all that met right now. We
could have a few laptops out that dual boot for people who are not ready
for a full commitment (you'll have to help me out here, I don't have one).

"There are certain minimum criteria required for a team to qualify for
sponsored supplies.

     * The team must be registered on our registration form (teams from
last year, please register again).
     * The team must have set up a wiki page with at least the basic
information about members and plans. The more detail, the better. Please
provide a URL.
     * An initial forum post must have been made inviting others to join.
     * The team must have at least 3 members. (more is better)
     * The request form must be completely filled out with a valid
postal address where materials can be shipped (!)" (taken from
http://softwarefreedomday.org/index.php?option=com_mosforms&mosform=2&Itemid=62)

The wiki page I created at
http://maitri.ubuntu.com/softwarefreedomday/wiki/index.php/Baton_Rouge
should be edited as we develop more on this matter. I'm open for
suggestions and do not have to be in charge. Please, though, consider
getting involved.

We are here to talk about freedom and choice. Some people have no clue
about this kind of stuff. I didn't until someone told me about two and
a half years ago. That didn't help enough to make a difference.
Seeking an alternative to Internet Destroyer, I found Firefox and began
to slowly remove applications from my computer. Let's help others make
a change to freedom. I only have two members including myself and need
at least one of you to get materials supplied.
