nedit is pretty basic, and fast. I am surprised no one has said this, but if you just want to peek at a file, use cat :)
I use gedit for most tasks, I haven't noticed it to be too slow. I just ran it command line and noticed that in the second it took to start up, I got a few gnome-vfs messages. That might have something to do with it. --mat Joe Fruchey wrote: > Notepad has always launched almost instantly on Windows machines. > There's got to be something faster (albeit simpler) than gedit, right? > > _______________________________________________ > General mailing list > General at brlug.net > http://mail.brlug.net/mailman/listinfo/general_brlug.net > >
