Also, most people recommend dedicating a closet that you can access for
switching and wiring purposes, but I just have my Netgear switch in the
attic, and it seems to be operating correctly over the past 2 years that
I've had my house in all weather conditions.  I don't want to bust holes in
any closets.

If you've never made a cable before, make sure to print out crimping
instructions.  You'll also need a punch down tool along with wallplates and
jacks (I bought the Levitron stuff from Home Depot.  Dunno if that stuff
would be cheaper ordering, I know cable is).
