I don't think that this is universally true.  It really depends on
what card you are using.  I don't have a tv-out on any of my cards
because my tv supports vga.

All of this really depends on your setup.  Do you have a good machine
you can put as your mythtv box, or is it a recycled pc?  Are you even
going to use it for live tv, or just recording shows watching your
archived dvd collection?

I'd just go check linuxtv.org to see what works good for people who
have the same functionality that you have...
