I usually dont post often here :). But this is one topic that interests me as well. I have run twin monitors as well as triple monitors with compiz and beryl.
Twin Monitors using nvidia -> I was able to get everything running including 2 independent cubes, with nividia there are 2 ways to implement it, either using twinview or using xinerama. I cant remember of the top of my head which one yeilds 2 cubes, but its definitely possible. Be prepared for a slowdown unless your card is capable of running 2x monitors 3d at full resolution (there are way more eyecandy effects than what the card can run). Triple Monitors using 2x nvidia cards -> This works , however you can not drag a window from one card which has 2 monitors to the other card with one monitor. I did a lot of reading on this, and found out that nvidia composite extension is unaware of 2 cards so it treats it as 2 seperate X sessions. kinda wierd considering the fact that I can move the mouse across them just fine. You really have to try E17, if you think E16 was cool, E17 takes it to a whole new level.
