I just purchased one of these:
http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Guardian-5501/p1819.html

It won't be able to run my home a/c, but it will run the fridge and a
window unit and lights.

I live off Dalrymple, my neighbor across the street has one that has
been running non-stop
since monday. As long as you have a licensed electrician and plumber
connecting the
wiring and gas connectors, you shouldn't have any problems. Another
neighbor is an
inspector for the City of BR, he said just get someone to hook it up.
I'm going to call
the BR 311 number today and just double check to make sure there are no issues.

The only thing i'm not sure about at this point is that you have to
have a certain sized
incoming pipe, to get enough input to the generator to supply it fuel.
I hope I have
the right size for the unit i purchased. I'll just have to see when
the plumber comes out.

Another thing. If you purchase a generator after the storm and you are
making an insurance
claim, they may pay for part of the cost of the generator. Save your
receipts on any purchases.
They may also pay for some of your relocation cost, as well as FEMA
may reimburse you for
some of those cost as well.

Still no power for me, but my mom has power in Walker. I stayed there
last night, It was great!

If any one has any needs let me know, i'll try to do what i can.
