On the way home, I noticed that the red light camera at the corner of Perkins
and Lee was back in action. It's obnoxious flash put half a dozen blind
spots onto my retinas while I waited to cross Perkins. No one was running
the light, the camera was falsely identifying people making allowed turns.

It sickens me that money that could have been used to make more reliable power
lines were wasted on traffic cameras. Lee road is notorious for the rat's
nest of above ground power lines and many neighborhoods in the area don't
have power back yet. Virginia did a study that showed cameras cause more
accidents than they solve. The companies selling them have been caught
bribing city officials in San Diego and elsewhere to mess with yellow light
timing to make the cameras look like a real source of revenue instead of the
waste they are.
