We have added physical memory to our Mark Logic boxes, but it's not clear to me whether Mark Logic is making the best use of it. I understand that a calculation is performed when the server is installed to optimize the database's memory settings. Is there any way to re-optimize based on a new memory profile? Is this done when the server is upgraded? If not, is there some heuristic that I can apply manually?

Currently, it appears that on one server, under normal heavy loading operations (consistent 75% CPU usage), the ML server shows memory usage (from "top"):

VIRT RES SHR
3115m 2.1g 494m

although the server has 8GB of physical RAM.

Is that process running in 64bit mode? That looks suspiciously like the 3Gb address space limit of a 32 bit process…

As to how you find out, I'm not sure. :-(
