Hi Frank, Well, actually you don't need to learn Java at all to work with MarkLogic. You can do everything in XQuery (and some client-side JavaScript perhaps). It runs on server-side though. I happen to know that XQIB runs on a cross-compiled copy of the MXQuery XQuery-parser. There is no such thing as for the MarkLogic XQuery-parser. On the other hand, nothing stops you from using XQIB in web pages being served by MarkLogic. You just need to be aware of syntax differences between XQIB XQuery and MarkLogic XQuery..
