Thanks Geert,

The problem I was struggling with in my project was the "onchange()" event when
selecting e.g. another interface language. I did not want to use a submit
button and currently solved it with indeed some javascript (i.e. jquery). How
would you solve this when you do not want to use client-side Javascript?

The general "advantage", I guess, of being able to use ML in the browser is the
ability to create an integrated xquery browser editor. I am currently trying to
use and understand xopus (which is again javascript).

Regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Well, actually you don't need to learn Java at all to work with MarkLogic.
You can do everything in XQuery (and some client-side JavaScript perhaps).
It runs on server-side though. I happen to know that XQIB runs on a
cross-compiled copy of the MXQuery XQuery-parser. There is no such thing as for
the MarkLogic XQuery-parser. On the other hand, nothing stops you from using
XQIB in web pages being served by MarkLogic. You just need to be aware of
syntax differences between XQIB XQuery and MarkLogic XQuery..

Kind regards,
Geert
