I have asked this questioned earlier also , which one is good, please suggest.

As per my understanding
ML default conversion pipeline  generates (XHTML, XML, _parts), but fails if 
document is corrupted or contains unreadable character or any other property 
like track changes enabled.
**Note for DOCX , it generates only _parts which contains XML

Similar way xdmp:document-filter also return XML for all type of doc and I have 
tested this it works in most of my case, except password protected file.

We need to make a decision to upgrade our pipeline code in PROD, shall we go 
ahead and update it to xdmp:document-filter or you have any other suggestion.
