Hello all,

My daughters headed back to school this week, so Fall must be just around the
corner… perfect time for another heat wave to hit here in Pennsylvania.

Community Projects
The end of the (northern hemisphere) summer means our interns are wrapping up
their work. I spent time with a group of four this summer as they made some
very helpful changes to our Bitemp Demo, turning it into a Bitemp
Explorer<https://github.com/marklogic/bitemp-explorer>. This application is
intended to help people understand how the Bitemporal
features<http://developer.marklogic.com/features/bitemporal> work. Work
continues, but take a look if you'd like a better sense of how this feature
works.

Want an easy way to explore a data set? The Slush MarkLogic
generator<https://github.com/marklogic/slush-marklogic-node> is used to build
proof-of-concept systems using MarkLogic, Node.js, and AngularJS. I kicked this
project off in May 2014, and I'm happy to say the project now lists 10
contributors<https://github.com/marklogic/slush-marklogic-node/graphs/contributors>!
(I've since turned the project over to others.) They've worked recently to
revise the structure of the AngularJS code and to make the project generator
more flexible. There are plenty of feature requests if you'd like to help out.
(Slush<http://slushjs.github.io/#/> is a project generator driven by plugins.)

Mike Wooldridge explains How MarkLogic Supports ACID
Transactions<http://developer.marklogic.com/blog/how-marklogic-supports-acid-transactions>
while still giving the performance and reliability we've come to expect. If
you've always wondered how that worked, check it out. (You'll also notice that
we now have social media buttons at the end of each post to make it easier to
share great content with your colleagues.)

Adam Fowler looked at the Key/Value family of NoSQL
databases<https://adamfowlerml.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/hybrid-nosql-key-value-use-cases/>
and how MarkLogic can handle those use cases.

Mats Stellwall takes a look at analytics applications of
MarkLogic<http://nosqlbloggen.se/projekt/r-du-redo-for-analys/> (Swedish,
Google translation
here<https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fnosqlbloggen.se%2Fprojekt%2Fr-du-redo-for-analys%2F&edit-text=>).

Events
If you're interested in what it looks like to use JavaScript in every tier,
there are three September Meetups where you can find out. Join us in
London<http://www.meetup.com/MarkLogic-User-Group-UK/events/224203193/>,
Berlin<http://www.meetup.com/MarkLogic-User-Group-NoSQL-Database-Technology/events/224305701/>,
 and Washington,
DC<http://www.meetup.com/Mark-Logic-User-Group/events/224562171/>. (If the
topic sounds good, but isn't in your city, ask your local Meetup to host it.)

On September 10th in Stuttgart, the German MarkLogic Meetup will present
"Blitzschnelle Analyse von heterogenen
Daten<http://www.meetup.com/MarkLogic-User-Group-NoSQL-Database-Technology/events/224635316/>"
(Lightning-fast analysis of heterogeneous data). That same day in London, Norm
Walsh will discuss the Management API and XProc
2.0<http://www.meetup.com/muglondon/events/223818220/>.

Are you part of a Meetup that would be interested in a general introduction to
NoSQL? We've got materials for that. (Yes, it includes MarkLogic; no, it isn't
about us exclusively.)
