Mark-

A great, free BI tool is the Eclipse BIRT project from Actuate. You can just
Google "BIRT" which stands for "Business Intelligence Reporting Tool" to find
it.

You can use the open source version which I believe has millions of users. I
also created a github project for a BIRT MarkLogic connector that you can find
by searching for MarkLogic and BIRT on GitHub.com.

BIRT does a great job with XML documents and has a GUI that allows you to
select elements with an xpath-like interface.

Please send me an e-mail if you have any questions.

Subject: Re: [MarkLogic Dev General] integration with reporting tools and
Pentaho BI

Hi Mark,

Easiest is to go through the ODBC/SQL interface, you can find more information
at http://docs.marklogic.com/guide/sql where you can find examples of how to
connect IBM Cognos and Tableau but the principles is the same for all BI tools
that are capable of using ODBC.

Some of the tools like Pentaho,
http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/Rest+Client, also have a REST client and
can integrate with MarkLogic through the REST interface.

Kind regards,
Mats

Hi,

I have a project that requires generating reports from data in a
Marklogic database. I have tried in the past getting ML data with
Tableau, but the client has decided not to purchase a Tableau license.
Are there any available resources for integrating with
Pentaho BI or some other BI tool?

Thanks,
Mark Martinez
