The discussion lead us to a much better understanding and we're going to reengineer the part of our application that relies on database timestamps for history visualization so that it uses application timestamps instead. The use of database timestamps has the disadvantage that adding data to the historic pictures is not possible in a consistent fashion, which we sometimes need to respond to input data or software errors.
