But possible CAUTION!! (I'm not sure whether this will affect Snow Leopard; it 
does affect Mountain Lion and possibly Lion.) If you require Java browser 
plug-in functionality in Safari you will no longer be able to use J602: For 
security reasons, Apple has disabled Java in Safari (and removed the Java 
preference panel). If you need Java, you'll need to download it directly from 
Oracle, and all you can get there is 64-bit Java 7. But the J602 Java 
32-bit/64-bit workarounds no longer work with Java 7.

I devoutly wish somebody would tell me this impasse is not so -- and how to get 
around it!
