   1!:44 showd=:temp=:'d:\temp'

and i still got an interface error with

   1!:55 (<temp,'\','test' dirfind '')

however i seem to have generally screwed up my interface to the file
system as i can not only not erase, but i cannot read!

   1!:1 (<temp,'\','test' dirfind '')

also gets an 'interface error'!-(

BTW dirfind is a J standard utility:

   'test' dirfind ''
test.txt

Or I could be completely off base :)

1!:55 seems to fail on my W7/64 machine in J801.
Perhaps it is a permission problem.
If so how do i elevate J`s permissions?
eg

1!:55 <'test' dirfind ''
|interface error
| 1!:55<'test'dirfind''

though

   'test' dirfind ''
test.txt

before and after
