That might be a hint about the nature of your difficulties: (*) What OS are you using on the machine which fails? (*) What firewall software does your machine use? (*) Is there anything already running on the port which JHS uses? (*) If you are using JHS across machines, what url are you using on the client machine? (And I would have some additional questions about your network configuration if you're using JHS across machines. But let's work through these questions first.)
