Ah... I guess to some degree that depends on your email client. Some email clients thread by date and subject line. Others thread by the "Message-Id" (and/or "References") in the headers. If you are replying to the original, the subject line is simple to fix. If you are replying to a digest, getting the message id right might be a bit of a stretch. Ideally you would respond with all of those handled properly by your email client, but in my previous message, I was only thinking about subject line threading. That said, it's not that difficult to save copies of all received emails (er... if you are getting them...). The disk space required isn't much on today's hardware.
