Yeah, it's a bit hidden, but the commit message does explain that the Guix
stuff can be safely ignored. It's only there as a temporary tool to aid in the
PR itself. I pointed you there mainly for the discussion, which says 1) that
the general issue already has attention, and 2) that a full fix is a giant
rabbit hole.

Anyway, it's probably worth leaving a comment on the PR about your observations
with install-user.sh.
