Hi everyone, After Auron's community discussion [1] and vote egarding graduation [2], I'd like to to expand the discussion to the general@incubator.
Auron entered incubation on August 5, 2025. During nearly one year of incubation, the community has: - Currently, our community comprises 22 committers (including mentors) from more than 13 different companies, with 15 serving as PPMC members[3]. - At present, we have 67 contributors. - Throughout the incubation period, we have made 3 releases over 11 months, maintaining a stable cadence. - We have had 3 different release managers to date. - Our software is used in production by 10+ well-known entities. - To date, we have opened 797 issues, of which 690 have been successfully resolved. - We have submitted a total of 1659 PRs, of which 1628 have been merged or closed. - Through self-assessment [4], we have met all maturity criteria as outlined in [5]. We've resolved all branding issues which include Logo, GitHub repo, document, website, and others [6] [7]. We believe the project has successfully established itself as a sustainable community governed by the Apache Way. The proposed board resolution if/when this proceeds to a formal VOTE is included below. ----------------------- DRAFT BOARD PROPOSAL ------------------- Establish the Apache Auron Project WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to establish a Project Management Committee charged with the creation and maintenance of open-source software, for distribution at no charge to the public, related to an accelerator for big data engines (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Flink), leveraging native vectorized execution to accelerate query processing.
