well..i would like to take 10 mins of ur time..
if u ask me i would say yes to the fees.. however there is a more important
thing..
as a club i guess it will be better to have something like an executive
committee or whatever its name is..
i mean elected members that make rules and discuss internal afars of the
jolug
for example we elect a president any a vise.. and so on
this way these members will be incharge of the lug and can talk to places
like ITU or any others, arrange activities, assign tasks to other members,
create a subcommittee for the website development for example.. this is much
better than saying "we r the core members".. more prof. i mean
and about membership there should be rules for memberships ya3ni if u wanna
make this club a good one there should be duties upon the members.. every
member will have to do something otherwise he should be classified as a
nonactive member and will have no vote or something like that, who needs a
lazy member after all
if we keep meeting this way most of the members will never show up!! cuz
lets face it we dont talk about something useful in our meetings!! every 3
or 4 guys gather around an start a topic sometimes relevant to linux and
sometimes they r not!!
and we end up with 3 or 4 topics being discussed at the same time!!! bel
3arabi leakha!!!
frankly when someone asks me about how can i get help with linux i hesitate
b4 telling him about the jolug bcuz anyone attends our meetings will find
that we do nothing.. so we r losing potential members.
the fees is a good thing in my opinion bcuz when ppl pay(even small ammount
of money) they will not leave easily and this is proved and ive seen it many
times and lets face it we need money!! i have never heard of any CLUB that
doesnt take fees from the members all international clubs take fees,
routeract, toastmasters club even the IEEE takes fees!! thats y they r doing
something and they all have something like a committee that runs things
out!!
toastmasters for example take 3.5 JDz for every meeting from every member or
guest and they have rules.. they vote on everything, they have president,
vice, treasurer and a lot of other positions..
akeed we wont take 3.5 Jds.. but a small amount of money from every member
will be fine,i will politely disagree with ones who say this will make
members hesitate joining, cuz it works with every other club!! y wouldn't it
work with us??
dont get me wrong fellows im not criticizing to prove anything here im just
suggesting.. i say we discuss the 2 things; the fees thing and the governing
committee thing in our next meeting.
if we dont some how rearrange our selves we will stay the way we r..
sorry for takeing so much of ur time
